Description

What are Pillowings?

Originally I referred to them as Pillow Foxes during their concept stages. They are the perfect casual indoor “pet”. I use the term pet loosely seeing how they aren’t actual animals. More like plushes or stuffed animals come to life.

With careful crafting and a little bit of magic, these beloved creatures spring to life before your very eyes. All it takes is something special that you’re willing to give to your Pillowing. A sentimental object if you will. Please keep in mind that Pillowings are about the same size as your average house cat, so it’s best to keep the objects on the smaller scale.

As long as there is an emotional charge to the item you put inside your Pillowing, that alone will be enough to awaken them. These small personal tokens are referred to as Hearts for Pillowings.

What happens if you remove the object err.. Heart?

When you remove an object from your Pillowing it is the same as putting down any other pet. The Pillowing you have personally known will be lost, becoming an empty shell. Returning itself back into it’s lifeless plush. Even if the object is returned to the chest later, it will begin a new life cycle with no memories of it’s previous active life. If you were to put in a NEW heart item you would get a Pillowing who looks the same but acts completely different. Different items give each Pillowing a different spark of “Life”. This is how people trade or even sell their Pillowings in the community.

Do Pillowings eat or sleep? How do I clean up after them?

Pillowings do not have normal organs like your average pet. Because of this they do not have the urge to eat or pass waste, so there is nothing to clean up afterwards. The only relatable fiction organ they have is their item heart which gives them a unique life force. Pillowings do still sleep though! They a normally a sleep aid for those with anxiety or restlessness. Being able to sleep petting one or just beside one is known to help ease people into a gentle slumber and sleep for a good few hours. Pillowings are ALWAYS happy to nap whenever you want too.

As for specific care for them, they still need to be cleaned. Your average Pillowing will hate getting wet more than anything in the world. It makes bath time incredibly difficult to deal with. Water, liquids, sogginess overall makes them extremely uncomfortable seeing their plush form takes forever to air out. A lot of owners take great care to keep their Pillowings very clean and often given them dry cloth baths to hopefully avoid the tub… Though it is still recommended that they get one water bath per year.

Pillowings don’t have normal organs. Does this mean they don’t get hurt?

Sadly it doesn’t mean that. You still must be very vigilant over your Pillowing! They can still be harmed by tearing their fabric and losing stuffing. Don’t worry though, you can call a professional to stitch them up like new or even patch them up at home on your own. Pillowings do not feel pain from needles and thread, some even might be relaxed by the stitching sensation and nap while you work on them.

Pillowings often get hurt from rambunctious house hold activities when playing. Be sure to Pillowing Proof your home before taking in a new critter. Sharp objects and edges should be taken care of before your Pillowing becomes active in your home. They do like to climb and follow you around everywhere, so expect them to get into EVERYTHING.

Can I have more than one Pillowing?

Yes you can! But please be aware that Pillowings are very personal critters. They normally imprint on whoever gave them their heart token. They sometimes will imprint on more than one person, but it is rare. When you bring a new Pillowing into the picture and give them a heart token the other most likely will be jealous and often fight with the other for affections or sleeping rights with you. Please do not be alarmed if you hear them growling or yipping at each other. It is fairly normal for them to play rough with each other with tackling, pinning, and hitting each other with their pillow-tails. Just make sure there are no abrasions during or after their scruffles.

Be sure to give them both one on one time and properly train them to accept each other’s presence. It will take a lot of time and patience, but keeping more than one Pillowing in the same home is possible. It is known that Pillowings who are activated together are much more likely to get along.

How can I customize my Pillowing?

Right now artisans are working with supplies to see what unique features they can bring to the Pillowing Adoptable Table. Guides later on will be made about customization features for Pillowings and their rarity traits. The Pillowings you see above are considered the norm. Don’t worry, they will come in many different patters and colors! Standard one color Pillowings will be very rare and are used for guide purposes only.

How do I get a Pillowing?

The coordinator (artist), AJ of Clover Coin Designs, will be seeing to their adoptions personally. They are a CLOSED SPECIES which means you can not make your own. Adoption sheets will be made and presented on TumblrDeviantArtFuraffinityand Weasyl. When posted the sales will be first come first serve and agreement with the adoptable TOS.
